With COP28 on the horizon, the Coreus team recognize the importance of taking action and making a difference through small yet meaningful measures. Last week, we made our annual visit to our adopted beach, Exmouth, for a beach clean event, where we shared our findings with the ‘Marine Conservation Society.’ The Marine Conservation Society is a UK-based non profit organization working with businesses, governments and communities to clean and protect our oceans.
Although the event was successful, we were dismayed to discover that 76% of the litter we collected was plastic items. The items found included toys, clothing, and fishing lines, all these items are very hard to decompose and can cause major harm to sea life.
Plastic pollution is a prevalent issue that poses significant risks to both our environment and wildlife. During our clean up efforts, we discovered various plastic items that take hundreds of years to decompose. The damaging effects of plastic on marine life have become clear, putting some species at risk of extinction.
Fortunately, by making small changes to our daily routines, such as bringing reusable water bottles and bags when shopping, we can considerably reduce plastic pollution. Remember, every little action counts towards a more significant impact. Let’s all do our part to preserve our planet.
