Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Coreus Group is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Targets
Figure 1 – 2022 baseline footprint
In order to continue our progress to achieving net zero, we have re-established our 2022 baseline and modelled our associated reduction pathways. This resulted in re-alignment of our carbon reduction targets to the SBTI methodology.
Our carbon reduction targets are as follows:
- Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 from the 2022 baseline year.
- Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 50% per employee by 2035 from the 2022 baseline year.
- Become a Net Zero Carbon Business (all Scopes) by 2040.
Progress against our targets will be reported annually, in our sustainability report.

Figure 2 – Carbon reduction targets
Whilst acknowledging that reduction is our primary goal, we have set ourselves a target to achieve Carbon Neutrality by offsetting total emissions annually from the 2022 base year, while continuing to reduce our absolute emissions.

Carbon Reduction Projects
Coreus has established an overarching Sustainability Strategy, where we set targets against all our ‘material issues’, including carbon.
This strategy provides us the framework to monitor progress against our targets and implement appropriate actions to reduce our emissions.
To date we have implemented the following:
- We hold ISO 14001 accreditation.
- ‘Switch off’ campaign to encourage staff to turn off their equipment and monitors.
- All IT and hardware purchased is refurbished.
- Implemented a flexible working policy for staff, with the ability to work from home.
- Adopted a Cycle to Work Scheme, with facilities to accommodate in every office.
- Promote Sustainable travel and accommodation options for all company related travel. Clause introduced in all standard appointments and terms and conditions to be transparent around reducing business travel.
- We have hired and developed an Advisory Services Group within the business which provides client consultancy services in the form of energy and carbon management, sustainability in the built environment and renewables and utilities consultancy. The team also provides in house support for our corporate related carbon initiatives.
- Further, we have assigned responsibility of our ESG and carbon targets to a Board Director, who is supported by ESG champions within the business.
Future carbon reduction initiatives
In the future, and as part of the planned Contract, we plan to implement further measures such as:
- Communicating with our landlords and other tenants for our leased offices around on-site renewables, EV chargers and car share schemes.
- All energy purchases through renewable energy sources and contracts (with relevant certificate of origin).
- Potential adoption of EV scheme for employees.
- Seek to establish a procurement process that ensures Preferable Purchasing Policy for the purchase of goods and services in relation to carbon reduction.
- Roll out of sustainability and carbon training for employees.
- Start to track and monitor the environmental benefits of the projects we deliver and review our impact (carbon) shadow).
