Coreus’ Annual February Step Challenge!
Our annual 10,000 Step Challenge has begun, where our team will compete to see who can be the most active. This event is designed to promote physical activity, raise funds for our charity of the year, @the.pearl.exchange , and instil a sense of healthy competition among the team.
Throughout the entire month of February, our Coreus team will strive to maintain an average of 10,000 steps per day (which is harder than you might think!). This adds up to an impressive 145 miles covered by the team! Together, let’s make a difference!
Delivering Tailored Services to the Education Sector
Coreus recognises that children and young people play a pivotal role in delivering economic growth and social wellbeing, both now and in the future. Therefore we take great pride in the work we do for the education sector, with numerous live projects ranging from primary schools to universities.
Neville Coles, our Development Director said “Having spent over 30 years in education, I understand how important it is to create a learning environment that allows children and young people to thrive. It’s been a real pleasure to work with Coreus Group to help realise this ambition. The team have worked on numerous schemes across the region from new builds to reconfiguring existing estates – optimising spaces and making them as sustainable as possible.”
We work closely with our clients to ensure we deliver projects that not only have longevity and provide value for money but also help realise their vision.
Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week!
Coreus have had the privilege of seeing first hand the benefits a tailored apprenticeship programme creates for both the apprentice and the employer.
This week we are celebrating our exceptional apprentices, Dan Parsons, Millie Lockyer, and Levi Lawson who not only bring ideas, energy and drive to each and every project but are also a huge part of our team.
Check out what they have to say!
The University of Plymouth Introduces Europe’s First 5G Interactive Microscope Labs!
Coreus played a crucial role in the development of The University of Plymouth’s first interactive microscope labs with 5G capabilities. This new facility is revolutionising the way students learn in various science courses, such as earth sciences, geography, environmental sciences, and marine biology.
We are thrilled to have been a part of this ground-breaking project that is set to transform the higher education landscape. The integration of 5G capabilities in the interactive microscope labs will allow students to explore and learn in a more immersive and interactive way than ever before.
At Coreus, we believe that education is a powerful tool that can help bridge the gap between different communities and create a more equitable society. By contributing to projects like the one at the University of Plymouth, we hope to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators who will shape the future.
Meet Troy Abrahams!
Coreus’ team is growing with the addition of Troy, who comes on board as Assistant Project Manager in the Exeter Office.
Troy began his career by undertaking an apprenticeship in Building Surveying at Livewest after completing his AS levels at Exeter College. Throughout the two-year programme, he achieved his Level 3 Surveying Technician Diploma and became an Associate RICS member (AssocRICS). He has since advanced in his career, honing his skills and completing the Retrofit Assessor and Coordinator Course to support clients in their decarbonisation efforts.
Troy’s unique blend of technical skills and practical experience will undoubtedly contribute to the team’s success as they continue to deliver exceptional projects.
We are excited to welcome Troy to the team and look forward to seeing his continued growth and impact within the company!
Progress Update for The Terrace Café!
We are pleased to announce that the University of Portsmouth’s new Café, The Terrace Café, was completed in early January 2024. This project further enhances our portfolio of Higher Education projects, expanding our expertise in the sector.
The Terrace Café has a floor space of 130 square meters and serves as a sit-in and sit-out Café. The works were undertaken by Habens contractors for the University of Portsmouth, who demonstrated a remarkable level of commitment and dedication in their efforts.
“The works have been a collaborative effort between the Client, Main Contractor and ourselves to get such a good end product. There have been a number of obstacles that we have worked hard as a team to resolve, to bring the project close to the client’s original aspirations on budget and programme.” ~Elena Dyer, Associate Director

Progress Update: City Centre Community Hub, Y Storfa – Swansea
Coreus in collaboration with Kier group, has made significant progress on the new Swansea Council community project which will provide a range of services in a flexible, collaborative space. The interior has now been fully stripped out, creating a clear view of the development of the Oxford Street community hub.
▪️Fact: During the strip out the team discovered a Chubb style safe weighing around 2,000kg!
Chris von Tersch, Coreus Group Senior Project Manager says, “Y Storfa will redevelop the former BHS and Miss Selfridge stores in Swansea into a new community hub for Swansea Council’s front-line services in addition to providing a new base for the West Glamorgan Archive Service and a range of other services.
The project started on site in October 2023, with the soft strip works now complete. It is a pleasure to be involved in this project – Y Storfa will provide much-needed council services right into the heart of the city centre and help to regenerate the city”.
The scheme is Coreus’ third, large scale department store refurbishment project, further strengthening our experience in dealing with complex projects, whilst also playing an important part in regenerating the high street.
Cove Nightclub, Swansea University
This fast paced refurbishment scheme commenced in October 2023 and was successfully handover over to the University at the end of January 2024.
The project has a floor space of approximately 530m2 with multifunctional rooms including; a bar, lounge and dance area in addition to a management office.
Establishing a collaborative partnership between the client and contractor teams was crucial to the project’s success, bringing a key facility on Singleton Campus back to life for the University and students!
Elena Dyer, Associate Director Says:
“This was a really enjoyable project to be involved in, with a very proactive contractor and engaged client. The final result is a testament to the teamwork throughout.”
This project aims to offer Swansea University students a new vibrant social venue, hosting events with live DJ performances, aiming to enhance the students’ night out experience.
