“The T-Levels refurbishment project at Bridgwater and Taunton College is a fantastic opportunity to deliver a scheme which will help future generations within the region learn about the opportunities and required skill sets for a successful career in the construction industry. In this regard it is an extremely rewarding project to be part of, and one which Coreus are excited about seeing through to completion.’’

Services Provided

  • EA Contractual Services
  • Cost Consulting

Key Challenges

  • Ensuring we were able to come up with a suitable procurement strategy which would enable completion of design and ultimate delivery of the works in line with the windows of opportunity dictated by the strict academic calendar.
  • The disruption to supply chains and sub-contractor package workers in lieu of Covid-19. Safeguarding the client against this risk profile as much as possible and ensuring the programme is not jeopardised as a result.
  • Budget constraints against a fixed and limited funding stream whilst ensuring the overall client brief is not compromised.

What we did

Coreus were introduced at Concept Design stage and were initially charged with overseeing procurement exercises to appoint both a structural engineer and a building services engineer necessary to help inform design progression.

Coreus provided both Project and Cost Management services throughout the design development phases, and subsequently advised on and oversaw an open competitive tender to successfully appoint a preferred contractor to deliver the scheme.

The scheme is currently in the early phases of construction, with good progress being maintained on site despite Covid 19 implications on supply chain/working practices. Coreus are continuing to offer assistance as Contract Administrators, with forecasting and reporting on project programme and financial progress as per the client’s bespoke requirements.
