  • The development is on track to be delivered both on budget and with lower than predicted running costs due to the energy and water efficiency designs required to meet the required BREEAM target.

What we did

Coreus were appointed to carry out the BREEAM assessment on the refurbishment and fit out of the South West Institute of Technology at Petroc College of Further and Higher Education in Barnstaple.

Due to ERDF funding requirements, the building is required to achieve BREEAM Very Good. The developer and the design team engaged with BREEAM early in the process ensuring the most cost-effective approach was adopted.

Similar approaches have been applied to other refurbishment projects on their Campus including the Centre of Technology & Excellence and more recently Wave building for T Levels as well as applying a high-level sustainability strategy for the regeneration of a number of buildings across all their sites.
