“LSP appointed Coreus Group as our construction consultant. Coreus have provided expertise and management of the whole project from start to finish, helping us to appoint a fantastic local main contractor, and supporting us throughout. We made an excellent choice, Coreus Group are brilliant, brilliant in every discipline and I cannot speak highly enough of every member of their team that has worked on our project, from the PM team, QS team to the Sustainability experts. Coreus clearly value and develop their people, and this has been evident on our rebuild project. This project will complete this month, on time and on budget, we could not have delivered this without Coreus”
About the Project
Yatton Infant School is part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP), a Multi-Academy Trust that oversees multiple schools across Somerset, Bath, and Bristol.
In May 2023, a fire severely damaged a significant portion of the school building. Following the fire, LSP procured a demolition contractor to carry out the full demolition of the damaged building including grubbing up of foundations and slab. The site was left as a level base ahead of re-construction.
To address the immediate needs of students, the Department for Education (DfE) provided temporary buildings—an ongoing expense offering no long-term value. In response, LSP and the DfE appointed Coreus as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, and Employer’s Agent to lead the rebuild. Funded through the DfE’s ‘RPA’ insurance scheme, with Davies Group acting as loss adjuster, the project will complete in October 2025, accommodating 180 additional students and increasing total capacity to 270. The new teaching block will replace the temporary buildings and adjoin the existing junior school.
