2019-2020
Coreus began as a one-person consultancy in Exeter and quickly secured several major projects, including Sandy Park, the Marriott Hotel for Exeter Chiefs, and Winslade Park. These commissions provided a stable foundation for growth, enabling the company to expand to six employees by the end of the financial year. During this period, project management and sustainability services were introduced, diversifying the business offering and opening new routes to market. Although the company built a strong reputation and achieved a healthy mix of public and private sector work, it was still developing the internal infrastructure needed to support long-term growth.

2020-2021
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Coreus experienced significant growth, increasing headcount by 250% and turnover by 172%. The company invested in enabling services such as HR, IT, health and safety, and marketing, creating a stronger operational platform that later became a key competitive advantage. A Regional Director was recruited to support future expansion, and although an office was opened and later closed in Sheffield, valuable lessons were learned. The business also secured a place on the Procure Partnerships Framework, creating opportunities with major public sector clients, including the Ministry of Defence and Police Authority. Throughout the pandemic, no staff were furloughed, and no projects were halted.

2021-2022
The company expanded geographically by launching a Central UK region, initially in Chepstow before establishing a permanent base in Bristol. This new region became a major contributor to turnover growth. Coreus also strengthened its South West operations by adding Principal Designer services and recruiting apprentices to support future expansion. Internally, the appointment of a Director of Finance improved financial planning and freed senior leadership to focus on strategy. Marketing capabilities also grew, generating a new ancillary revenue stream through social media support services.

2022-2023
Coreus entered a more mature stage of development, growing to 33 employees and opening a South East office in London. Building Surveying was launched as a new service line, further broadening the company’s capabilities. A major milestone was the creation of the Coreus 2030 Strategic Plan, providing a roadmap for sustainable long-term growth. Significant investment was made in employee wellbeing, development, apprenticeships, and company culture, resulting in multiple award nominations and wins. The company also secured places on five frameworks, entered new sectors including healthcare, and increased its contribution to local communities through education and charitable initiatives.

2023-2024
This year was marked by strong financial performance and growing national recognition. Turnover increased by 42% and headcount rose to 39 employees. Coreus strengthened its Bristol presence by moving into a flagship office at BLOK and secured positions on the NHS Shared Business Services Framework, opening substantial opportunities within the healthcare sector. The business achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations, demonstrating its commitment to quality and environmental management. Its culture also gained external recognition, with Coreus being named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024 and winning Employer of the Year awards in both Exeter and Bristol.

2024-2025
Coreus focused on scaling sustainably while continuing its growth trajectory. The company delivered more than 250 projects across eight sectors, with public estates, healthcare, and education accounting for over 70% of revenue. Operationally, it invested in the CMap platform, replacing spreadsheet-based systems and improving forecasting, resource management, and profitability tracking. Geographic expansion continued with the launch of a Birmingham office, while the business renewed and expanded its position on the Procure Partnerships Framework, becoming the highest-ranked consultant in the tender process. A major milestone was the launch of the Coreus Foundation, committing 1% of annual net profits to social impact initiatives. The year also saw a leadership transition, with Andrew becoming Chief Executive and James Colthart becoming Managing Director. Headcount increased by 73%, alongside multiple award wins and continued investment in people, systems, and long-term growth.
